Mayor Chris Olivia received the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce's 2016 Mayor of the Year award March 29 during its 10th reception for mayors and municipal officials at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. The chamber bestows the honor to a municipal official based in part on good government practices, leadership and support of the business community. Its philanthropic foundation also gave Olivia $1,000 for the Carbon County community. A borough native, Olivia became mayor Oct. 11, 2012, when he replaced former Mayor Brad Doll, who resigned. Olivia was elected in 2013 to a four-year term; previously he served 11 years as a councilman. Olivia, who will turn 69 on May 10, is the subject of this week's Q&A.
