Penn State-Lehigh Valley Day centered on Historic Hotel Bethlehem and the Downtown Bethlehem Association businesses. Participating businesses donated 5 percent of their sales 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 30 to pediatric cancer research as part of the third annual event. Some businesses also offered a special item or discount to Penn State-Lehigh Valley Day Passport Holders. Passports, which cost $10, with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to pediatric cancer research, were sold in the days leading up to the event. The passports were stamped by each participating business upon the customer's visit. When a passport was stamped five times, it could then be entered to win a raffle basket featuring Penn State merchandise, gift certificates from participating businesses and a getaway accommodation package from the Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
