Texas guitar prodigies The Peterson Brothers, two young siblings who fuse classic blues with soul, funk and disco, will headline the 10th annual Blues Brews & BBQ celebration in downtown Allentown in June, the duo says on its web page. The Peterson Brothers will play the free festival at 8:30 p.m. June 10 on PPL Plaza near 8th and Hamilton streets, the duo says on its web page, www.petersonbrothersband.com. The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, which coordinates the festival through its Hamilton District Main Street program, has not announced the date of the event. Miriam Huertas, the chamber’s senior vice president for Allentown Initiatives, said only in an email that the event’s lineup is not complete. Huertas said during this year’s event, held June 11, that organizers would be looking to make a splash with the 10th annual event. The Peterson Brothers -- Alex, 17, on bass and vocals, and Glenn Jr., 20, on guitar and lead vocals – have played together for years and are rising stars in Austin, Texas. The Peterson Brothers self-titled debut album won the Living Blues Critics Award for Best Debut Blues Album of 2015. The group has appeared at the Chicago Blues Festival, Minnesota State Fair, Riverbend Festival, Austin City Limits Festival, Ogden Roots and Blues and more. It will play Lancaster Roots and Blues Festival on Feb. 25 and 26. The duo has opened for Gary Clark Jr., Los Lonely Boys, the late B.B. King, Willie Nelson and Lisa Marie Presley. The Peterson Brothers also opened for and played with Buddy Guy. The festival attracted more than 10,000 people in 2015, putting it among the Valley's top festivals, and in 2016 grew to three blocks, stretching from Sixth Street to Ninth on Hamilton. And for the first time Allentown's center-city intersection at Seventh and Hamilton was closed to make room for a bigger stage at The Hamilton Kitchen restaurant. In all the festival in 2016 had four stages -- at the Bell Hall restaurant's plaza, at PPL Plaza, at Allentown Brew Works Biergarten and Hamilton Kitchen. This year there also was a record 25 food vendors and 25 others giving information or selling crafts, wares and more. Read the original article here.
