The three candidates seeking to represent the Lehigh Valley in Congress will be on stage — and the region’s radio airwaves — together next month for a series of forums ahead of the Nov. 6 general election. First on the schedule? An hour-long discussion on WDIY’s weekly public affairs program featuring Democrat Susan Wild and Republican Marty Nothstein. The conversation — hosted by Alan Jennings, executive director of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley — will be recorded on Sept. 10 and will air Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. on 88.1 FM and on wdiy.org. Wild, Nothstein, and Libertarian Tim Silfies are confirmed for an Oct. 9 taping of WFMZ’s “Business Matters” program. The hour-long forum will air in two parts, at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 and 22. The event is organized by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, which hosted a similar forum with the 7th Congressional District’s six Democratic candidates ahead of the May primary. The taping will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Coordinated Health, located at 3435 Winchester Road in Allentown. Those interested in attending can email Asa Saidman (asas@lehighvalleychamber.org) or Michelle Griffin Young (michelley@lehighvalleychamber.org) to reserve a seat. The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation also is hosting a 7th District candidate forum on Oct. 18, with all three of the candidates listed as invited to participate. Don Cunningham, the group’s president and CEO, will ask questions during the economic development-focused event, scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Location details will be announced on the group’s website. On Oct. 23, PBS39 will host a live debate with Wild, Nothstein and Silfies at Northampton Community College’s Lipkin Theater. The event will be hosted by PBS39’s Monica Evans, and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. And there may be another to add to the schedule: the League of Women Voters says the group is seeking to schedule its own candidate forum before voters head to the polls.
