The Hamilton District Main Street Program in Allentown has a new name. The organization, which is part of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, has rebranded and will be known as the Downtown Allentown Business Alliance. The organization said the name change comes with a change in focus to be better aligned with the changes occurring in downtown Allentown and to have a greater impact on the businesses it serves. “We are trying to change with our changing downtown all the development taking place and the activity taking place,” said Betsy Kohl, main street manager for the program. “We just felt the need to grow with the city.” Kohl noted that the Hamilton District began back in 2008. “So it’s been quite some time,” she said. “It better represented who we are now.” The new name also comes with a new logo, which features some of the iconic structures in downtown Allentown including the PPL Tower and the Soldiers and Sailors monument. The logo was designed by Sarah Dams of Sarott Designs. The Alliance announced the changes at its monthly meeting where it also launched the Downtown Allentown map & guide. The Downtown Allentown map & guide showcases the retailers, restaurants and arts and cultural assets and amenities in our new downtown. The guides will be available at the various downtown retailers and restaurants, the Chamber and city offices and throughout the Lehigh Valley at the regional tourism centers. The Downtown Allentown Business Alliance district consists of the area from 5th Street to 12th Street, and from Walnut to Linden Streets. To read the articel click here.
