While much of the talk about Gov. Tom Corbett's budget has focused on his controversial proposals for the state lottery, education funding and liquor store privatization, the $28.4 billion spending plan would benefit business, said Revenue Secretary Dan Meuser Wednesday at DeSales. Meuser has been making the rounds of regional chambers and business groups, selling the benefits of the governor's 2013-14 budget. On Thursday he sat down for lunch with about 50 members of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. Business-friendly plans in the budget include eliminating the capital stock and franchise tax in January 2014, gradually reducing the corporate net income tax and allowing businesses to deduct more of their losses to attract technology and bioscience companies.
