The proposed lease of Allentown’s water assets to Lehigh County Authority received the support of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. The chamber passed a resolution urging Allentown City Council to approve the $220 million bid by the nonprofit municipal authority based in western Lehigh County, according to a news release. City Council heard a presentation Wednesday night by Mayor Ed Pawlowski and the city’s advisers describing the lease as the city’s last, best option to pay down $158 million in unfunded pension liability and secure city finances.
