Pennsylvania's transportation secretary said today that widening Route 22 would likely be among the projects tackled if legislators approve a proposal to pump at least $1.8 billion into the state's roads, bridges and mass transit. Barry J. Schoch talked up the proposal during a stop in Whitehall Township, not far from where crews are working to reconstruct the Routes 22 and 145 interchange. Joined by Lehigh Valley government, business and transportation leaders, he said investing in the state's transportation infrastructure is necessary to improve public safety and spur economic development statewide.
