What's the best way to rise to the top of your profession, or at least ensure that the career you've chosen is the one that you love? Never stop learning. And keep those mentors close at hand. That's the message delivered by a keynote speaker at the Young Professionals Council Education Summit, hosted by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce on Thursday at the Best Western Lehigh Valley Hotel & Conference Center in Bethlehem. The event offered about 70 professionals, many of whom are looking to land promotions, new jobs or continuing education programs, the opportunity to network with representatives from higher education institutions and several businesses to gain new skills. "We have access to so many ways we can learn, and we should never stop doing that because that's how you grow," said Marilyn Mackes, executive director at National Association of Colleges and Employers, an organization based in Bethlehem that compiles information on the employment of college graduates and alumni and interacts with recruiting professionals and business leaders.
