Bethlehem's Main Street is often packed with diners Friday and Saturday nights in the summer. Starting this Friday, the street also will be packed with police officers during those hours. Police Chief Mark DiLuzio announced today he's increasing Bethlehem's new downtown beat cop presence Friday and Saturday nights through at least the end of August. He said he's readjusting officers' work schedules to have more of them on those nights. "Between those hours, many citizens visit the Main Street area to shop and dine at the many businesses, shops, restaurants and hotel," DiLuzio's news release says.
