The wail of the harmonica, a swig of craft beer and the sweet, smoky flavor of good barbecue can do a lot to invoke a good mood among a crowd. But at this year's Blues, Brews & Barbecue in downtown Allentown, the changing landscape of a city undergoing a massive redevelopment also put guests in good spirits. Just a block away from the PPL Center arena development, hundreds of folks gathered Saturday in the 800 block of Hamilton Street to enjoy a breezy afternoon of blues bands along with plenty of finger-licking pork ribs and frosty brews. The seventh annual event, organized by the Allentown Chamber of Commerce and Hamilton District Main Street Program in partnership with the city, has become a mainstay of city events drawing large crowds no matter the weather.
