All the parking meters on Bethlehem's North Side now take credit cards, Bethlehem Parking Authority Executive Director Kevin Livingston announced Wednesday. New so-called smart meters also were recently installed on the South Side, where all but 318 meters now take credit cards, Livingston said. "All the high-use areas on the South Side now have smart meters," he said. The parking authority had been hoping to install the 350 new electronic meters by Dec. 1 but their delivery were delayed by a longshoreman's strike, Livingston said. The new meters cost $177,000, he said. Parking authority board member Lynn Collins Cunningham, also the senior vice president for Bethlehem initiatives for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, said it is a plus the machines will be able to take both coins and credit cards.
