Moravian Book Shop, a landmark where tourists from all over the world go to buy Christmas City trinkets, is considering an expansion from Bethlehem's historic Main Street into Allentown, a Bethlehem official said Monday. Alicia Miller Karner, the city's director of community and economic development, said she doesn't know the exact location the book shop is looking at, but Allentown's one-of-a-kind Neighborhood Improvement Zone is a powerful lure. Tenants can often get good deals on leases from developers, who apply most of the state tax revenues created by their buildings toward paying off building loans. Lynn Cunningham, a senior vice president at the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, said the book shop is a vital piece of the downtown landscape.
