Real estate magnate David Jaindl withdrew his nomination to sit on the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission at the 11th hour Wednesday, weeks after some voiced concerns about one of the region's largest property owners' having a key role in planning and development. Less than an hour before the Lehigh County commissioners were set to vote on his appointment, Jaindl sent a letter to Commissioner Brad Osborne to pull himself from consideration. Jaindl thanked Executive Tom Muller, who nominated him, and some commissioners for offering their support and wished them luck moving forward. After Jaindl withdrew himself for consideration, commissioners unanimously approved Kevin Schmidt, president of the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce, to fill a separate vacancy on the LVPC, which also has members from Northampton County.
