We had our first rehearsal Monday night for Dancing With the Lehigh Valley Stars, and among other things, we were assigned our dances.. Actually, since Sam Malone had rehearsed earlier and already had picked his dance, Tony Iannelli and I were left with two choices: disco and swing. Tony was born to disco, so I ended up with the swing. If you've watched the real Dancing With the Stars, you know that the swing involves a lot of fast movement, lifts and whatnot. I watched a video of the full routine and saw the guy -- a professional -- doing an improbable jump, cartwheel and all kinds of other fancy stuff. Luckily, we didn't make it that far in our first rehearsal, but we did get halfway through the routine. My partner for Friday night's show and some of the other dancers were the victims of delayed flights because of bad weather, but professional Alyssa filled in to get me started and was incredibly nice and patient. She claimed I did very well, and although I'm inclined to think she was trying to boost my shaky confidence, I did have a tenuous grasp on my steps by the time we finished.
