We’re kicking off the season of pumpkin spice and everything nice with our annual SCARECROW SHOWDOWN! Join us for this epic Scarecrow decorating competition.

All members of the public are invited to enter, along with our businesses along Main & Broad Street. We’ll have voting for the general public submissions AND your favorite business!

Pick up your Scarecrow Kit:
After purchasing your kit online (a link will be provided 9/1), pick your kit up Monday through Thursday 9-4 PM, or Friday 9-12 PM by 9/17, at the Bethlehem Chamber Office, 74 W. Broad ST. Bethlehem, PA 18018, SUITE 240. You will receive your Scarecrow number at this time.

Check-in your Scarecrow:
Drop off your Scarecrow anytime from 9/20 through 9/24, from 9 AM to 4 PM. If you need to drop off after hours, you may do so. Just be sure your number is prominently displayed on the Scarecrow and text a picture of your Scarecrow and your assigned number to 610-739-1775. The drop-off address is also at the Bethlehem Chamber Office, 74 W. Broad ST. Bethlehem, PA 18018, SUITE 240.

Contest timing:
Scarecrows will be out on Main & Broad Streets and live on our website for voting starting 10/1. All contestants will receive a link to vote via email to share with friends and family.

Voting:
Voting will be in real-time from 10/1 through 10/29. Additional votes will continue to be collected through 10/31.

Winner Announced:
The winner will be announced on our Heart of Bethlehem Facebook and Instagram pages on 11/1.

Post-contest Pick up:
Scarecrows will be available for pickup after this contest from 12 PM on 10/31 through 11/1. If you wish to pick up your scarecrow, please call by 10/28 to confirm. We will provide you with the location of your scarecrow - pick up at will. We will provide you with pick-up location instructions. CALL: 610-739-1775. Any unclaimed Scarecrows will become the property of The Downtown Bethlehem Association.

Terms & Conditions:
This is a family-friendly event. The Downtown Bethlehem Association reserves the right to deny any entry that is offensive, lewd, inappropriate, or demonstrates anything controversial. Further, any Scarecrow that is constructed in poor taste or is deemed offensive will be disqualified. All entries must use the wooden structure provided - no exceptions. Refunds for disqualifications based on these criteria will not be issued.
All Scarecrows must adhere to the style guide found in the kit and must be designed to follow the category you chose. This year, you may create your own face on the head provided. No blinking lights or anything with motion. Use materials that will withstand the weather, i.e., wind & rain. We recommend using plastic bags and newspapers to stuff your Scarecrow. Stuffed hosiery will also work to shape your Scarecrow.
Your Scarecrow must be sturdy, and materials used to decorate your Scarecrow must be secured onto the base provided. The Downtown Bethlehem Association will not be responsible for any damaged Scarecrow or for any items that have been stolen. In the event of vandalism, we will attempt to assist in repairs that may be needed.

The Pocono Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 2021 Pickle Me Poconos Festival happening on Saturday, October 2nd from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Crystal Street in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. This festival will feature and highlight ALL things pickle! This is the second year the Pocono Chamber's PLOT Committee will put on this festival. In 2019 the Pickle Me Poconos Festival was the first-ever of its kind to come to the Pocono Region and was enjoyed by many throughout!

The purpose of this event is to bring a fun festival to East Stroudsburg to bring the community and tourists of all ages together to celebrate all things PICKLE in the POCONOS. There will be 2 beneficiaries selected to receive a portion of the 2021 Pickle Me Poconos profits. This is a free event and is open to the public. There will also be free meter parking downtown during the festival, courtesy of the East Stroudsburg Borough.

Various vendors will feature a variety of pickle dishes, crafts, and activities. Pickle menu items being sold throughout the festival will include, pickle soda, fried pickles, pickle cotton candy, pickle ice cream, pickle muffins, pickle soup, pickle hotdogs, pickle mac and cheese, pickle Oreos, pickle burgers, pickle sunflower seeds, and pickle snacks! There will be a variety of pickle crafts from local craft vendors and fun activities for all throughout the day. Activities include contests, a pickle toss, pickle eating contest, door prizes, and more!

This event will include a Beer Garden featuring local craft brews and wine! This is a family-friendly event however, only those who are 21 years of age or older will be permitted in the Beer Garden. The Gherkin Garden will include activities for children of all ages. There will be official Pickle Me Poconos Merchandise for sale throughout the day including t-shirts and shot glasses.

The PLOT Committee is busy at work planning the 2021 Pickle Me Poconos Festival, and it is going to be an #evenbiggerDILL! Over the next few months, the PLOT Committee will be sharing pickle recipes, promotions, ideas, trivia, videos, DIYs, photos, the #adventuresofMrPickle and SO MUCH MORE. This popular street festival is back! Created in 2006 by the Historic District merchants, HarvestFest started as an effort to attract visitors from all around the Lehigh Valley, to the downtown stores and restaurants. It started as a small wine and beer tasting Fall festival and has become the most popular street party in the Lehigh Valley with over 1,100 tastings of wine, soup, and beer samplings!

This year, a Wine and Soup Trail will take place in our shops and restaurants in the Historic District and a Beer Trail will occur at the south end of Main Street. 300 passports will be available for purchase for the Soup Trail and 300 for the Wine Trail. 500 passports will be available for the Beer trail.

This entire event will take place along Main and Broad Streets, and everywhere in between.
We’ll kick off the Fall Season with our most popular contest in Bethlehem, The Scarecrow Showdown! Entertainment, axe throwing, grab & go items, additional street vendors, sidewalk sales, and more will all be included in this festive Fall event!

About National Coming Out Day:

October 11^th is National Coming Out Day that continues to raise awareness for individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. On this day, many people who identify as LGBTQ+ will “come out” (a term stemming from the phrase “come out of the closet”) to friends or family about their sexuality, which is a very big moment! The Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place at 9:00 AM (Ribbon Cutting at 9:15 AM), but participants are also encouraged to partake in FCT's "Boot Camp to Support Mental Wellness!" The cost is $20 per person and it is open to the public; 50% of proceeds will benefit the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami-lv.org). Rock and roll in Macungie with the East Penn Chamber as we seek to unite local businesses, community members, schools, organizations, and more at ROCKtoberfest! Trunk-or-Treating: A bunch of local businesses band together in a local parking lot, deck out their trunks with Halloween decorations, and let local kids meander from car to car, collecting candy at each stop. Community members enjoy the fun of trick-or-treating but can stay safe with all cars parked the whole time. Businesses can interact with families and kids to showcase their services and products while celebrating this fun holiday. Local businesses and community partners will have spots in the parking lot to offer goodies to families attending. Pets are welcome and costumes are strongly encouraged! There will be food trucks, popcorn, and drinks available to purchase on site. Car registration will ensure businesses and organizations have a parking spot during the Chamber-sanctioned event to hand out goodies. Families attending to collect candy need not register.

Bring your trick-or-treat bags and don your best costumes for this beloved Halloween event!

The Easton Phillipsburg Halloween Parade is a tradition that attracts thousands of residents from both Easton & Phillipsburg. This parade is the event of the year that binds two communities to showcase our local bands, entertainers, non-profit organizations, local businesses, and community groups.

The 2021 parade will take place Sunday, October 24th beginning at 3:00 p.m. on McKeen Street in Phillipsburg and ending at Centre Square in Easton. The parade is also televised on @Service Electric Cable TV.
