About us
Founded in 1872, St. Luke’s University Health Network (SLUHN) is a fully integrated, regional, non-profit network of more than 20,000 employees providing services at 15 campuses and 300+ outpatient sites. With annual net revenue of $3.4 billion, the Network’s service area includes 11 counties in two states: Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Montgomery, Monroe, Schuylkill and Luzerne counties in Pennsylvania and Warren and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey. St. Luke’s hospitals operate the largest network of trauma centers in Pennsylvania, with the Bethlehem Campus being home to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. Dedicated to advancing medical education, St. Luke’s is the preeminent teaching hospital in central-eastern Pennsylvania. In partnership with Temple University, the Network established the Lehigh Valley’s first and only four-year medical school campus. It also operates the nation’s longest continuously operating School of Nursing, established in 1884, and 45 fully accredited graduate medical educational programs with more than 400 residents and fellows. In 2022, St. Luke’s, a member of the Children’s Hospital Association, opened the Lehigh Valley’s first and only free-standing facility dedicated entirely to kids. SLUHN is the only Lehigh Valley-based health care system to earn Medicare’s five-star ratings (the highest) for quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction. It is both a Leapfrog Group and Healthgrades Top Hospital and a Newsweek World’s Best Hospital. The Network’s flagship University Hospital has earned the 100 Top Major Teaching Hospital designation from Fortune/PINC AI 11 times total and eight years in a row, including in 2023 when it was identified as THE #4 TEACHING HOSPITAL IN THE COUNTRY.

“It’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to be vulnerable. It’s okay to ask for help.” Matt Tuerk, Mayor of Allentown, stressed this important message during episode 30 of St. Luke’s mental health podcast, “Just STARt the Conversation.” Listen as Mayor Tuerk joins hosts Kevin Crocket of WLEV and Amie Allanson-Dundon, St. Luke’s Network Director of Behavioral Health Clinical Services, to talk about his personal mental health journey and what he does daily to work on both his mental and physical health: https://lnkd.in/eCRt5G2f City of Allentown #MyStLukes #JustSTARttheConversation #Podcast #MentalHealth

Congratulations to the Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine Class of 2024 on their graduation today, which was celebrated at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. The 38 student physicians who made up our 10th graduating class took part in four years of intensive learning to provide culturally competent, interprofessional care to a diverse patient population. While training here, they became part of the fiber of our community, from providing free care through community clinics to volunteering in local schools and mentorship programs. Training these students at the Lehigh Valley’s first and only four-year medical school has significant long-term benefits for our region’s health care, and we are proud to welcome back 11 of these graduates as they continue their education at St. Luke’s for residency. The St. Luke’s Nursing Excellence Awards ceremony, held May 8 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, provides an annual opportunity for nurses across our Network to come together and share their successes and stories of outstanding nursing care, leadership, and community contributions. These recipients, who received awards named in honor of leadership donors with established endowments supporting nursing education, all serve as shining examples of St. Luke’s nurses and their relentless commitment to quality, safety, and compassion. This commitment to action benefits our patients, network, and communities. Congratulations to all of the winners! Thank you to all of our nursing professionals for being there to care for others in their time of need. #StLukesProud

When Ashley Swope, MSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer, and Vice President of Patient Care Services at St. Luke's Bethlehem Campus, started at St. Luke's in 2011, she never anticipated leadership in nursing as part of her future. However, after graduating with her master's and moving on to various patient care and nursing roles at St. Luke's, she quickly fell in love with the patient care philosophy. "I have worked here for 13 years, and I cannot imagine working anywhere else," she said. "Everybody is on the same page and wants what's best for our patients, our families, and our community." You deserve a fulfilling career at a place where you truly belong.
