.F. Ohl has been a family-owned and operated business since 1984, when Bobby and Brenda started the company. Their sons, Steve and Brad are now working with Steve’s wife Kim and their sons, Ivan and Nathan. The origin of R.F. Ohl started from the need to supply diesel fuel to a water well drilling rig. The well drilling rig used 150 gallons a day of diesel. Bobby decided to buy his own fuel delivery truck, since he had previously worked for a heating oil company, to control some of his fuel costs. As he was driving to deliver fuel to his well drilling rig, people that knew him, would stop and ask, “Would you deliver heating oil to me?”. Bobby found out what was required to start delivery of heating oil and within a few weeks, he was delivering to his first customer. Bobby’s sons Steve & Brad helped out after school and on summer vacation, working on the well drilling rig and delivering fuel. Both started working full time for Bobby in 1990. By 1996 the water well drilling business was sold in order to concentrate full time on the heating oil delivery business. After operating from the family home for many years, Bobby opened an office, and hearth and patio showroom at the former Eckman Lumber Building in 1999. He started selling BBQ grills, oil & propane space heaters, propane & natural gas fireplaces, and other outdoor products. In early 2002, Bobby announced that he and Brenda were going to retire in a few months. He had prepared Steve & Brad to continue operating the business and he had started to make plans to develop a propane delivery division. Unfortunately, Bobby unexpectedly passed away from cancer in August of 2002. Steve and Brad knew that they had many customers, family, and employees that depended on them, so they continued on with the plans that Bobby had started.
